Annual report

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

Once a year, Thessa will ask you to submit a progress report on your doctoral studies. The annual report should be submitted well in advance of the annual meeting of the Thesis Committee, so that your supervisor and the members of the Committee have time to read it before the meeting.

Creating an annual report

Annual reports can be found at the bottom of the main page of Thesa.

Most of the content of the annual report is automatically copied from the My PhD project section. In addition, you will be asked to estimate the time you spent on your dissertation during the past year and the current status of your dissertation project. The annual report will also include highlights and challenges of the past year.

Click on the "Create report" button to start creating your report.

Once your report is complete, send it on to your supervisors and members of the Thesis Committee for reading. If you wish, you can also attach annexes to the report (e.g. an updated research plan), but these are not mandatory unless you have been specifically asked for them.

Once you have sent the report for reading, your supervisors and your Thesis Committee will be informed of the report and can comment on it in Thessa. You will be notified of any new comments by email. You can reply to comments in the discussion area of the report view in Thessa.

Closing the annual report

Once the annual report has been completed and approved by the Thesis Committee, you will need to write a short summary of the conclusions and recommendations. Saving the conclusion closes the report and starts a new reporting period.

The concluding sentence is written during the Thesis Committee meeting and should include list the people present at the meeting. After the submission of the concluding sentence, the conclusions is automatically sent to the members of the Thesis Committee.
