Duration of study and right to study in specialisation studies in pharmacy

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

Duration of study

The right to study in specialisation studies in pharmacy is granted as follows:

  • For Bachelor’s of Science (Pharmacy) four years (target duration three years)
  • For Master’s of Science (Pharmacy) five years (target duration four years)

With adequate justification, the Faculty may grant a one-year extension to the right to study. Extension is applied for using a relevant form. This form is also used for applying for a break to studies. A break can also be granted with justification if it is not a statutory absence (e.g., family leave). Statutory absences do not contribute to study duration.

Waiver of the right to study

If you wish, you can relinquish your right to study by filling in a relevant form. The right to study will then be recorded as having expired on the date of the written notice.

The waiver of the study right is binding and final. You can no longer continue your studies or apply to reinstate your study right. If you wish to resume your studies later, you must apply for admission through the regular student selection process for specialisation studies.

In the specialisation studies in pharmacy, you must waive your right to study if you receive through an admission procedure a right to study specialisation studies in another specialisation degree programme while your previous right to study is still valid.
