Language Centre's Programmes in Chinese Language

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

The minimum requirement to complete a programme in Chinese language is 15 or 25 credits. You must specify the intended scope of the programme in your personal study plan (PSP). Often the Language Centre Programme in Chinese Language can be included in the optional studies of your degree. Target group

Students of all programmes, students in the flexible study rights scheme (JOO), international students and Open University students.

Timing

You can begin to pursue the language studies to be included in the language programme from the beginning of your studies. This Programme is offered throughout the academic year.

Learning outcomes

Students who have completed a 15 cr language programme,  

  • have a diversified knowledge of the Chinese language, culture and society
  • can communicate fluently in everyday and professional situations

Prerequisites

No previous studies.

Contents

The 15 cr study programme should include at least one CEFR A2 level course.

The following can be included in the language programme.

  • All UH Language Centre Chinese courses (from basic to CEFR B1 level)
  • UH Language Centre exemption test: Foreign language studies: Chinese (CEFR B1)
  • Chinese language and cultural courses completed at foreign (e.g. student exchange) or Finnish higher education institutions. The transfer of credits should be discussed with the coordinator Ching-yeh Lin

All courses are not necessarily arranged every year.

Assesment practices and criteria

The programme is graded as pass/fail. The assessment of individual courses included in the programme is based on the learning objectives of each individual course.
