Monitoring student progress

The instruction belongs to the following themes

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

The aim of monitoring student progress is to support the smooth progress of their studies. In addition, the progress of your studies is monitored and supported, for example, with the help of PSP supervision. The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) also conducts a check of student progress annually in October; more information is available on the Kela website.

Oodikone

During the academic year 2018–2019, the degree programmes at the University of Helsinki rolled out the Oodikone system aimed at monitoring student progress. Oodikone contains student-specific information about study rights and completed studies, and its data are based on information from the student information system Sisu.

Oodikone provides a visual presentation of the progress of students in the degree programme both at group and individual levels. The core information of Oodikone includes student progress within the target duration, information on completed studies with grades and the numbers of completed courses with grades.

Oodikone user licences have been given to degree programme directors and vice-deans for academic affairs. In academic administration, heads of academic affairs determine who will be given degree programme–specific rights (e.g., education coordinators). Rights can also be given to individuals, who based on their position or duties have the right to process student-specific study completion data.
