Sisu instructions for students who began their studies before 2017

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

On 31 May 2021, WebOodi was replaced by the new academic administration system SisuHere you will find instructions for using Sisu if you have begun your studies in the old degree programmes before fall 2017.

You can find more information about Sisu as well as user instructions on the page Sisu instructions for students.

Drawing up a study plan

All students must have a study plan in Sisu. However, you do not need to plan your entire degree at one go. Instead, you can flexibly update your study plan throughout your studies. At the least, the plan should initially include all the courses that you wish to register for. You must also choose a completion method for the courses. If you are about to graduate, your study plan needs to include all the studies in your degree before you can submit a graduation request.

If your study plan displays this error message "You do not have a study right that corresponds to your study plan or you have not registered for the current semester.", it means that you will need to create a completely new study plan.

  1. Create a new study plan on the Structure of studies page in Sisu.
  2. In the pop-up window, choose the study right that is shown automatically in the Select education menu. It should correspond to your old degree programme's name.

  3. Choose the curriculum period according to your degree programme's instructions, name your plan, and click Create a plan.
  4. The error message should disappear and the structure of your studies should be displayed. As a last step, make your new study plan your primary plan. You can proceed to add your previously completed courses to your plan and then continue to plan your future studies.

Please read carefully the instructions on the page Personal study plan (PSP).

Adding previously completed studies to your study plan

  • Please observe the rules for expiry of studies when adding previously completed courses to your plan.
  • Sisu recognises some of the equivalences of your previous studies. Firstly, check if the course you have completed is marked as having an equivalent in a course in your new degree programme. You can find this information in Sisu in the course brochure of the course in question. More detailed instructions can be found in the Sisu instruction Study plan in the section 'Adding missing course credits to the study plan'.
  • If the equivalence cannot be found in Sisu, check your faculty’s tables of equivalence to see if the course you have completed has an equivalent in the new degree programme. If an equivalent can be found, you can in Sisu’s free edit mode apply for the course or study module in question to be substituted with the course or study module you have already completed. See instructions for using the free edit mode.
