Transition period at the Faculty of Medicine

Transition period at the Faculty of Medicine

The transition period associated with the reform of first- and second-cycle degrees has been extended due to the exceptional situation so that the deadline for graduating in accordance with the old degree requirements is 18 December 2020. The transition period ends on 18 December 2020 (or 31 July 2021 in the Degree Programme in Dentistry)

The University of Helsinki introduced new degree programmes on 1 August 2017. If you received your right to study prior to 1 August 2017, you can complete your degree during the transition period in accordance with the old degree structure. Students can continue to study and graduate in accordance with the previous degree requirements until the end of the transition period.

If your studies are at a stage where you are able to complete your degree by the end of the transition period, you should do so in accordance with the old degree requirements. After the transition period ends, all students will be automatically transferred to the new degree programmes. You can also consider transferring to one of the new degree programmes prior to the end of the transition period.
