Are you starting your thesis? Also remember data management
Before starting work, it is also a good idea to spend time planning the management of the research data* (study data) that will be collected, produced and analysed for your thesis.
Basic data management guidelines guide contains the basics of research data management. We have also created a data management plan template for the thesis, which makes it easy to write down our own data management plans. You can find the template in word format in the above mentioned guide (Student´s DMP).
Planning is necessary if your study involves, for example:
- A survey
- Interview data
- Measurement results or laboratory diaries
Good data management will make it easier in concrete terms to write a thesis. When files are stored systematically, they are easy to find. By backing up, nothing is accidentally lost. Describing the data also makes it understandable for the thesis supervisor and the author himself.
*Research data is the data generated by the thesis, which is collected or produced and analysed by the researcher. You may also be able to use data already collected by others. All this data will be used to justify the results of the thesis.
