Changes to doctoral study progress monitoring and annual registration
The University has decided to give up the doctoral study progress monitoring process (jatko-opintojen rekisteriseuranta), which has been in use since 2006. No new students are picked for study progress monitoring in the spring of 2021, and new applications related to study progress monitoring need no longer be submitted by anyone.
All attendance registration blocks placed during previous rounds of study monitoring will be removed during the spring semester and no new registration blocks will be introduced. Students who have previously been granted an extension related to study monitoring can register as attending for academic year 2021–2022 even if their previous extension would have been coming to an end at the end of the current academic year.
In the future, doctoral study progress will be followed through the annual reports submitted in Thessa, already in use for some years. All doctoral students who register as attending submit a report in Thessa before the annual meeting of their thesis committee. If you register as absent, you don’t need to submit an annual report or hold a thesis committee meeting. When you return as an attending student, submit the report and organize a thesis committee meeting at your earliest convenience.
The practice of reporting the full-/part-time nature (activity percentage) of doctoral studies each year as a part attendance registration is also given up. When you register as attending for the academic year 2021–2022, you no longer need to include an activity estimate. In the future, the estimate is given as a part of the annual report in Thessa.
The attendance registration period for the academic year 2021–2022 is exceptionally June 1 to August 31, 2021.
