Construction of new Aleksandria study facilities begins - Participate in the development in pop-up workshops
Aleksandria's facilities will be updated to meet the demands of evolving teaching and learning methods. Plenty of workspaces will remain available, with new, more ergonomic furniture. The renewal will also improve the acoustics and soundproofing of the facilities. Aleksandria's new study spaces will be open at the beginning of the 2025 autumn term.
The new Aleksandria is developed together with students
Students have been asked for their opinion and feedback on the plans presented to them through on-site pop-up workshops on campus and online surveys. In addition to quiet work areas, students have requested facilities where they can talk more freely. This allows for group work and remote learning. Supporting students' recovery with facility solutions is also considered important. It is still possible to leave feedback and questions about the renewal plans of Aleksandria via the form.
During the autumn term, there will be three more pop-up workshops where you can have your say on the plans:
- Tue 15 October 2024, 11-13, Kaisa House entrance floor (3rd fl.), the topic is furnishing plans
- Wed 13 November 2024, 11-13.
- Tue 10 December 2024, 11-13.
The location and content of the latter two pop-up workshops will be specified later.
Occasional noise impacts from construction works at Aleksandria and Vuorikatu 3
In addition to the renewal of Aleksandria, a renovation of Vuorikatu 3 will start in October, with the construction of new premises for University Services staff. The construction work may cause noise impacts for people working in nearby buildings, such as Kaisa House, until March 2025. The noisiest stages of work will be scheduled for the morning hours.
During the construction work, the courtyard between Fabianinkatu 28 and Fabianinkatu 26 (Language Center) and the courtyard at Vuorikatu 3 are not accessible. The bicycle parking spaces in these courtyards are not available either. There are lockable bicycle stands in the Topelia courtyard and in the courtyard of the Main Building, accessible from the gate at Yliopistonkatu 2.
