DigiZeitschriften archive to be discontinued on 1 January 2026

DigiZeitschriften is a much-used archive of German scholarly journals subscribed to by the National Library. Despite this, the use of the service will be discontinued on 1 January 2026. The reason is an announcement by the material provider: access to the material will be discontinued, and an alternative service is not available. Despite its best efforts, the National Library has not received any reasons for this decision.

In addition to pay-walled publications, the service includes openly available journals.  Based on the information provided by the material provider, many of the openly available journals will continue to be accessible through the following websites:

• Heidelberger historische Bestände – digital.
• ScriptaPaedagogica.
• Digitalisierte Sammlungen der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin.
• Digitale Sammlungen Universitätsbibliothek Frankfurt am Main.
• Theologie digital, Universitätsbibliothek Tübingen. 

DigiZeitschriften will be available to the customers of the National Library until 31 December 2025 by logging in to the Library’s search service.
