Una Europa Student Award 2026 | Imagine it, film it, shape it - and win a trip to the Netherlands!
How might life as a student look in 2040? Will there still be classrooms? Or entirely new ways of working together?
We invite you to reflect in a form of short video on what universities should stand for, how student voices should be heard and involved, and how education can prepare us for an unknown future.
The 2026 edition of the Student Award invites submissions in the form of a short video. The format is open and flexible: your submission does not need to be a traditional recording of yourself speaking to a camera. You can combine visuals, text, audio, narration, images, slides, animation, or spoken word, whatever best supports your idea. Through storytelling and speculative imagination, show us your vision of the future of university life.
Winners of the Una Europa Student Award have the opportunity to win a fully funded trip to Una Europa Student Congress in the The Hague in June 2026.

Una Europa Staff Week 2026 in Helsinki | Universities as transformative learning communities for all
Helsingin yliopisto/Helsingfors universitet invites interested staff, lecturers, and students and doctoral researchers from Una Europa partner universities to take part in the Una Europa Staff Week 2026 from 2–5 June 2026.
Universities are uniquely complex, multidisciplinary communities, where education, research, and employment intertwine. Embedded in this complexity are the versatile ways students, teachers, researchers, and professional staff collaborate and interact in both pedagogical settings and outside of them. These collaborations are part of the everyday work at universities.
This Staff Week will provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on and intentionally develop this collaboration by encouraging them to reimagine the role of the university in researching, teaching, and community building. Participants will gain new insights into how formal and non-formal learning opportunities can be utilised in different areas of work within the university community and tools for overcoming the challenges and limitations that can inhibit non-formal teaching and learning.
The Staff Week programme consists of daily workshops where participants will actively lead and participate in discussions and engage with one another. Through participatory and engaging peer-learning methods, participants will actively shape the contents and outcomes of the session and diversify their skill sets. This allows participants to use their own expertise to teach and learn from each other.
The Staff Week open for applications for students and doctoral researchers at all study levels who are interested in exploring and developing practices around student–staff engagement and fostering more collaborative ways of working between teachers, staff, and students, and bring student voice into the discussions.
Interested? Please read more on Una Europa website and apply by 23 February.
Please note that Una Europa Helsinki does not cover travel/accommodation costs for participants from the University of Helsinki. Staff Week is free of charge for participants.
Una Europa Student Congress in the Hague - Sustainability: From Challenge to Change
Are you passionate about shaping a sustainable future?
Keen to tackle real-world challenges together with students from many different disciplines and institutions across Europe?
If so, join us in the Netherlands for fully funded and an inspiring and highly interactive Una Europa Student Congress, hosted by Universiteit Leiden at our campus in The Hague. During this year’s Congress, you will:
- Tackle actual sustainability challenges in teams: brainstorming solutions, testing ideas and learning by doing.
- Explore the power of Citizen Science, discovering how it can enrich research with community insights and make science accessible to all.
- Sharpen your science communication skills in an Oxford Debate, learning how to present ideas persuasively and drive change.
The Congress will be characterized by a hands-on approach known as Challenge-Based Learning. This learning style is all about collaborative problem-solving and combining knowledge from different disciplines to create practical solutions.
Since a variety of perspectives are key to Challenge-Based Learning, we encourage students from many different fields and backgrounds to join us. Together we will explore three sub-themes during the congress: food, biodiversity and energy justice.
The Una Europa Student Congress is an annual event bringing together students from all our 11 partner institutions to discuss topics and themes relevant to our student communities. Attendees have the opportunity to connect with their classmates across Europe while participating in critical thinking and creative problem-solving. Selected students will receive a travel grant to cover their travel and accommodation costs to attend the congress.
