Gale Primary Sources Ohjauskulmassa 14.11. klo 12-15
Do you use primary sources in English in your studies or research? The University Library offers various digital archive collections for your use, easily accessible with just a couple of clicks. These include, among others, newspaper archives of The Times and The Economist, British Library Newspapers collection and broad collections of material from the 18th and 19th centuries. You can use these and other available sources in the Gale Primary Sources database that you can access through Helka.
The University also offers the use of Gale Digital Scholar Lab, which is a cloud based tool for studying different resources by Gale. With Digital Scholar Lab you can learn the basic methods of digital humanities, like creating and editing datasets, topic modelling and different visualizations.
This fall Helsinki University Library offers a trial of Gale Archives of Sexuality and Gender collection until December 4. This archive is the largest available collection of primary source materials on sexuality and gender from the 1500's to 1900's. The collection supports the study and research of LGBTQ history and activism, cultural studies, psychology, health, political science and other related areas of research. The Library has also recently acquired permanent access to U.S. Declassified Documents, an archive of U.S. federal documents.
If you are interested in hearing what Gale Primary Sources can offer you and how to access the secrets of the archive, come to Guidance Corner on Thursday 14th of November, from 12 to 15 o’clock. The University of Helsinki Gale Ambassador students Pauli Kettunen ja Lotta Vuorio will be there to help you!
