Bulletin 4.11.2024

The University of Helsinki has once again opened the International Student Barometer survey, where international students and doctoral researchers can give valuable feedback on their experiences. The survey has been in use since 2010, and its results have helped the university to develop its services significantly.

Participate and make a difference!

By answering the survey, you can influence how the University of Helsinki will develop its services in the future. Every answer is important, and your feedback will help us make the university a better place to study and work.

The next ISB-survey will be published on 5 November 2024. The response time is until 16.12.2025. A link to an email will be sent to all international students.

How does your feedback affect you?

Based on the results of the previous survey (2022), the university has made several improvements, especially to facilitate the integration of international students. Here are some examples:

  • Arrival services

International students have found settling in challenging. Because of this, the university has hired international students as study advisors to help in new situations, such as opening a bank account. In addition, the initial information has been compiled in an easily accessible Moodle area.

  • Friendship and networking

The university has collaborated with student organizations to enable international students to get involved in organizational activities. This is an important part of integration into Finnish society and the university community.

  • Supporting employment

The university has expanded its own internship programme and developed new ways to support the employment of international students in Finland. The UNITalent[EK1]  programme is one example of this.

  •  Language learning

Finnish language skills are an important part of integration. The university offers diverse opportunities for studying Finnish right from the beginning of studies, and the Language Boost programme supports both students and work communities in increasing language awareness.
