Kela awards a prize for a meritorious Master's thesis on social security – Apply for the prize by 28.3.2024

Bulletin 5.2.2024

The prize is open to a thesis on social security approved in 2023. The prize is worth €2,000.

For the first time, Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland) will award the prize to a meritorious Master's thesis. The deadline for applying for the prize is 28.3.2024.

The Kela thesis prize is awarded to a scientifically high quality Master's thesis on a topic of interest to social security.

Social security is studied in a wide range of disciplines and degree programmes. The thesis is therefore not restricted to a specific discipline, but must deal with the social security system.

– We set up the Kela thesis prize because we want to encourage students from different disciplines to tackle social security issues. Perhaps some of the nominees will end up as researchers for us in the future," says Hennamari Mikkola, head of Kela's research unit.

Nominations for the prize can be made by the supervisor, the examiner or the author of the thesis. The thesis must have been approved during 2023.

Nominations for the prize should be sent by e-mail to gradupalkinto@kela.fi by 28.3.2024 at the latest.

Questions regarding the award can be sent to gradupalkinto@kela.fi.
