New master course on environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry
Background and objectives
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a standardized tool that has been widely used to estimate environmental footprint of products. LCA is rapidly gaining popularity in private and public sectors driven by the need to quantify environmental performance to respect planetary boundaries.
To better prepare students for these emerging needs, we offer a new Master-level pilot course “Life Cycle Assessment in the Context of Agriculture and Forestry” (5 ECTS). The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts and framework of LCA and to walk students through performing the standardized LCA procedure using agricultural and forestry cases. Attending the course requires no prior experience in LCA.
