Meeting other doctoral researchers at both formal and informal events builds a sense of community and is an important means of peer support. The doctoral programmes organize courses, seminars, and other events on-site or online, and some events can be attended remotely. However, we strongly encourage you to attend these on-site whenever possible!

During your dissertation research, there may be times when you need support with, for example, motivation, coping or time management. You don't have to be alone with these, or other well-being-related issues. The Doctoral Students at the University of Helsinki (HYVÄT)-association is found here

Peer support is important, and in addition to this, you can talk to your supervisor and thesis committee members. You can also get help with well-being from study psychologists, occupational health care and your own municipality's health care (Helsinki health stations, West Uusimaa health centers (e.g., Espoo, Kirkkonummi, Kauniainen), Wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava).

If you feel that there are problems in your supervision relationship, it is good to deal with the situation as soon as possible. You can find more information on how to act in these situations on this page about problems in PhD supervision.

Remember also your physical well-being! Unisport offers the university's doctoral researchers a wide range of sports services at an affordable student price.
