RILM Abstracts of Music Literature now accessible with a National Library card
RILM Abstracts of Music Literature is a comprehensive bibliography of music literature for music research. Last year, the database was accessible via the University of Helsinki network. Now, both on-site and remote use requires a National Library card and a login to the National Library’s search service.
RILM Abstracts of Music Literature contains references to an extremely broad range of scholarly and popular music literature published in 150 languages. The material encompasses publications from the beginning of the 19th century to the present, covering various fields of music research and different musical genres from art music to popular music.
The database contains nearly two million references, with more added every month. In addition to 2,400 music research journals, references to articles are added from as many as 11,000 publications in other fields of science. The database is produced by Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM).
Please note the database does not include full texts, but only references. Cited publications can be found in libraries or through interlibrary loans.
