Suggest a candidate for the Maikki Friberg equality and diversity award 2024!
The University of Helsinki wants to be a forerunner in promoting equality. Human diversity is an asset which can enrich the University’s operations and generate wellbeing. The University wants to promote the equal treatment of all people, regardless of their gender, age, ethnic origin, religion, convictions, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or other characteristic.
The Maikki Friberg* Award is granted annually for notable work towards the promotion of equality at the University of Helsinki. All members of the University community may suggest a candidate. Communities and units may also propose themselves for the award. The award may be granted to an individual, or a professional community, group, association, department, administrative body or other administrative unit which has
- promoted a pro-equality atmosphere at the University or
- generated new information on equality or
- promoted equality in practice, in University teaching, research, administration or other activities.
Applications related to the 2024 Cultural Equity and 2023 The Responsible Interaction in the University Community of the thematic years are also requested. It is also possible to apply for the so-called project funding for a new or already existing project, which may be, for example, an equality inquiry or an event. A report is recommended to made within a year.
The award sum is €6,000.
Submit your proposed candidate for the award to the Equality and Diversity Committee. Submit your suggestion and the reasons why the individual or unit qualifies for the award in writing to the Equality and Diversity Committee. For a concise proposal, it is good to make clear to whom the prize is proposed, brief background information on the proposed, broader justification for awarding the prize and the proposers of the prize. The suggestions are to be addressed by pdf-attachment of an E-format. Submit your suggestions by 21st March 2024.
The award will be awarded at the well-being event (date not yet available).
