Sustainable Micro Internships

The U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships are a 2-week online programme designed to give students the opportunity to collaborate with peers from across our global network. You will be introduced to an organisation that is actively working on advancing one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and you will be set a real-life current organisational challenge to work on, in small groups.

This year's themes

  • Micro Internships 1 & 2 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (Artificial Intelligence)
  • Micro Internships 3 & 4 – Gender Equality (Sport)
  • Micro Internships 5 & 6 – Climate Action

Time Commitment

The two-week online internships will take place in November-December 2026 or January-February 2027

Approximately 5.5 hours per week over a two-week period, consisting of:

  • 2.5 hours of live sessions per week
  • 2-3 hours per week of individual and group work between sessions

Skills You Will Develop

Through the programme, you will strengthen the following skills:

  • Agility – the ability to adapt to new environments, engage with topics beyond your academic discipline, and work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Global Collaboration – practical experience working across time zones, languages, and cultures to combine global knowledge and deliver outcomes for an employer
  • Impact – the ability to build trust and solve complex problems efficiently
  • Presentation Skills – the ability to communicate complex information clearly to stakeholders

LinkedIn Micro-Credential

Upon successful completion of the programme and all required activities, participants will receive the Leading Change Micro-Credential, which can be displayed on their LinkedIn profile. The credential demonstrates your ability to address complex global challenges and your potential as a future leader.
