University Library services and opening hours for summer 2026
Opening hours
Kaisa House, Learning Centre Aleksandria, and Viikki Campus Library are open on weekdays throughout the summer. With an access tag you can access Aleksandria every day 7:00-1:00.
Kumpula and Meilahti Campus Libraries are closed 15 June–2 August.
The library locations have shorter opening hours:
- In Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki from Monday 1 June onwards
- In Kaisa House from Monday 22 June onwards
Kaisa House, Aleksandria and Viikki Campus Library will be closed on Midsummer between 19 and 21 June.
Borrowing and returning printed materials
Loans from the Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki Campus Libraries have long loan periods.
Loans from the campus libraries collections will receive a due date on 12 August as follows:
- 28 day loans starting on 18 May
- 14 day loans (textbooks) starting on 1 June
- 2 day loans starting on 11 June
The material from the Kaisa House collections has normal loan periods, as the library and its customer service is open all summer.
You can return books to the Main Library and Viikki Campus Library during the opening hours. Books can be returned to the return hatches around the clock at Kaisa House and Kumpula. In Meilahti, books can be returned to the Haartman Institute's return box. During summer Haartman Institute is open Mon-Fri 8:00-15:00.
Reservations
You can order books from the Kumpula and Meilahti collections to be picked up from the Kaisa House or Viikki by making a reservation for the book in Helka.
As of Friday 5 June, it is no longer possible to choose Kumpula or Meilahti as the pick-up location for your reservation. However, it is possible to pick up arrived reservations at the Kumpula and Meilahti campus libraries until Friday 12 June. From Monday 15 June onwards, all reservations will be picked up at Kaisa House or Viikki.
