What is the Open University route?
Studies completed at the Open University can be used as a basis for applying to degree programmes at most University of Helsinki faculties. This is commonly known as the Open University route.
How to apply?
Students must apply for a place, one will not automatically be granted. Admission criteria and quota vary by degree programme. The selection of students is usually based on the amount of completed studies and grades. There is a limited number of student places available through the Open University route.
Many degree programmes require that Open University studies be compiled into study modules before applying. Information on whether the studies must be registered as modules is available in the admission criteria for each degree programme (see links to admission criteria below). Open University studies can be compiled into study modules upon request. Read more: Compiling a study module
An applicant seeking entry to the University of Helsinki via the Open University route cannot hold a valid right to pursue a degree at a Finnish institution of higher education.
