By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

The supervision plan is an agreement between the doctoral researcher and the supervisors, which is signed at the beginning of the doctoral studies. It sets out the common rules of the supervision relationship and the rights and obligations of each party.

Each supervision plan is based on the rights, responsibilities and duties in the Doctoral Training at the University of Helsinki, as approved by the University's Doctoral Training Steering Committee.

Creating the supervision plan

The supervision plan is created in Thessa using the supervisor’s username and password. Make an appointment with your supervisors to complete the plan together. Once you have written down what you want to do, your supervisor will send the plan to you and the other supervisors for approval via Thessa. The plan must be approved by all parties for it to be valid.

By default, the plan is valid for one year, but you can update it to be valid for longer.

You can update the supervision plan as your doctoral studies progress, if necessary.
