Background: The thematic year 2024 of the University of Helsinki, related to equality, diversity and inclusion, is called ‘cultural equity’. The overall aim is to promote the creation of a safer study and work environment. A key objective of the year is to promote cultural accessibility. The aim is to achieve this goal by organising events and trainings for the university community and by making a positive impact on the general atmosphere. The general goal is for every member of university to feel welcome at the university as they are, regardless of factors such as cultural background. Background materials include, for example, the University's Equality and Diversity Plan, the Accessibility Plan, and the Responsible Interaction in the University Community guidelines. Other events of the year can be found here. Also familiarize yourself with the university's community glossary and The Guidelines for Language Awareness at the University.
