What is your dream university? Share your thoughts and help build University's equality and diversity plan for 2025–2028

How should everyday practices change to make study and work at the University feel as meaningful as possible? Share your views on the important issues of equality and diversity.

We will use your feedback to outline the University’s equality and diversity plan for 2025–2028. The aim is to produce an easy-to-read and concise document guiding daily operations. 

To achieve this goal, we would like to hear your views on what the University could do better, what the plan should take into account, and how it should be developed.

When taking the survey, you can consider the following questions:

  • Are we able to engage with individuals from other cultures?
  • Do we take different language groups enough into account?
  • Does racism exist in the University community?
  • Do we treat people of all religions and beliefs equally?
  • What about sexual and gender minorities?
  • Can everyone access teaching venues and attend classes?
  • Are all students assessed on the same grounds?
  • Is the most suitable candidate always appointed?
  • Does everyone receive equal pay for equal work?
  • Am I treated equally?

All contributions, whether large or small, are equally important. Share your views via electronic form by 11 March 2024. You are welcome to submit your feedback anonymously.

Further discussion in a community workshop on 19 March

For a summary of the ideas and comments submitted and the chance to continue working on the issues, you can participate in a workshop on Tuesday, 19 March, from 9.45 to 11.00 (Main Building, Foyer 1062 a, Fabianinkatu 33, 1st floor). You need not have given feedback to attend. 

The session will begin with a short introductory talk, after which you can participate on a drop-in basis in thematic groups based on your interests. The detailed programme will be published later. 

Participants are welcome to use Finnish and English in parallel and ask questions in Swedish as well. Registration via electronic form is optional.

Next round of comments in autumn 2024

The University’s Equality and Diversity Committee and the plan’s authors will continue working on the plan this spring. A draft version will be submitted to the University community for comments in early autumn. The goal is to complete the work by the end of the year.

The Equality and Diversity Committee coordinates work on the plan and the ideas received.
