Submission of master’s theses in summer 2024

The University of Helsinki Board has decided to transfer decisions on the approval of master’s theses and the confirmation of thesis grades from faculty councils to deans from 1 August 2024.

During the 2023–2024 academic year, the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Pharmacy will meet for the last time on 26 June 2024.

After that date, the dean will decide on master’s thesis approval and grades. If the assessment of a thesis submitted during the spring term cannot be completed by the June deadline of the Faculty Council, it will be approved according to the following timetable:

• The first thesis approval date for the 2024–2025 academic year is 20 August 2024. Master’s theses submitted by 18 June 2024 will be approved on that date and recorded as having been completed on 31 July 2024. If the graduation request is submitted before 31.7.2024, the graduation date will be recorded as 31.7.2024.
• The second date of approval is 11 September 2024. Master’s theses submitted between 19 June and 31 July will be approved on that date and recorded as having been completed on 31 July 2024. If the graduation request is submitted before 31.7.2024, the graduation date will be recorded as 31.7.2024.
• Theses submitted after 1 August 2024 will be recorded as having been completed on the date of submission and will be approved according to the University of Helsinki’s general timetables.
• The student will be informed of the grade proposal and the reasons for it at least one week before the date of approval of the thesis.
• You can submit your graduation request in Sisu as soon as the thesis has been submitted for approval if you have completed all your other studies.
