Do you feel that you are missing out on important information? Don't forget to use your university e-mail!
Student, did you know that you should always use your university e-mail address to manage your studies? Would you like to know more about how using the university e-mail can support you in your studies? In this bulletin, we've put together some tips on how the university e-mail and other Microsoft services can make your everyday life at the university smoother.
Using the university e-mail benefits you in many ways
- You will be up to date with your studies by following the university e-mail. Important information about your studies will always be sent to your university e-mail address. In addition, you will always be subscribed to e-mail lists with your university e-mail address.
- Using the university e-mail address makes it easier for you to be identified and speeds up the service you receive. The format of the address is firstname.lastname(at)helsinki.fi. By using the university e-mail, you save the time of teachers and student advisors for what matters the most – supporting your studies.
- Using the university e-mail supports e-mail management skills needed in the workplace. E-mail is a common communication tool in many workplaces, but few workplaces allow you to choose which e-mail address or program to use.
You can choose whether to use a browser application or a separately installed e-mail client to access your university e-mail. The advantages of an e-mail client are:
- It's easier to handle your e-mail in a sensible way. Sometimes there can be a lot of messages, and you can automatically filter incoming messages into appropriate folders.
- You can handle mail from multiple e-mail accounts in one place. For example, you can read messages from your Gmail address in the same e-mail client as your helsinki.fi address.
- You can read received messages, even if you are not connected to the network.
- You stay logged in.
