Are you interested in developing solutions to global sustainability problems and working in a multidisciplinary environment with fellow students? Welcome to the multidisciplinary course of the University of Helsinki in the first and second period 2.9.–31.12.2024.

The Sustainability Course (SUST-001) has been co-developed at the University of Helsinki and allows you to update your own academic expertise with sustainability knowledge and skills. The Sustainability course is a three credits online course for all students at the University of Helsinki.

Over 160 university researchers, teachers and students have been developing the course materials. The course will introduce you to the complexity and multidisciplinarity of sustainability issues, along with their ethical and philosophical dimensions. The course will guide you to consider your role as a future professional and a member of society in solving sustainability issues and provides you with tools for your own work.

  • You can study the course flexibly between 2.9.–31.12.2024.
  • The course is an online course and organized on the digicampus.fi -platform.

The modules consist of online activities such as readings, videos, group discussions, data analysis tasks, quizzes, and project work. The course consists of mandatory modules and alternative thematic modules. With thematic modules, students can tailor the course to fit their interests and academic background. The course's common reading materials, course instructions and mandatory assignments are in English, Finnish and Swedish, and you can choose any of these as your study language.
