University printing service renewed starting from October – check out how changes affect you

Unigrafia's new Uniprint printing service will be introduced gradually starting from October 2024. The system is piloted at Kaisa House in September, and the full implementation across all campuses will be completed by the beginning of 2025. –

The service will replace the current Canon system, which will be gradually removed as new devices are installed by December 31.

The new Ricoh printing devices for student use will be installed in campus libraries by the end of October. Additionally, other new devices in public areas will also be available to students starting in October.

The progress of the service rollout will be communicated to staff and students via various university channels as installations proceed. Information will also be compiled simultaneously on www.uniprint.fi, a new website to be opened in October.

How does it work?

The new system works the same way as the current one, meaning that anyone at the university with a username and password can use it. The system will be free of charge for students during the fall of 2024. Starting from January 1, 2025, printing for students will also require a printing balance, as per the current model.

Where and how can you print?

You can print from a university computer to the Ricoh SecurePrint queue or directly from your device to the service at uniprint.helsinki.fi, using the eduroam wireless network. The job can then be released from any multifunction device.

What does it cost?

Student printing in the new system will be free of charge until December 31, 2024. From January 1, 2025, the service will be charged according to our price list: €0.079 per black-and-white page and €0.149 per color page.

Current balances will be available in the Canon system until December 31. After that, balances will be transferred to the new system at the beginning of January 2025 and will be available immediately after the transfer.

Previously acquired balances in the current or new system will not be refunded in cash to users afterward.
