Bulletin 21.10.2024

Undergraduate and graduate degree students who have registered as attending students pay a healthcare fee every term to the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela). The healthcare fee covers all services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS).

Please remember to pay the autumn term healthcare fee to Kela on your own initiative by 15 November 2024. Kela will not send you an invoice.

Please note that you cannot pay the healthcare fee for the next spring term at the same time as the fee for the autumn term, since Kela decides on the fee amount annually, and it might change for next year.

More information and instructions on how to pay the fee are available on the Kela website. Please note that several exceptions apply to international students, so take care to read the instructions carefully before paying the fee.

If you have questions about paying the fee, please contact Kela’s customer service. The University does not receive any information on paid fees from Kela.

If you are a doctoral researcher or an exchange student at the University of Helsinki, you do not have to pay the healthcare fee, since unfortunately you are not covered by the FSHS services.
