Update on Meeting fees for student representatives as of January 1, 2025
Students play an important role in University decision-making: there are approx. 700 student representatives currently participating in the University’s different decision-making bodies.
Up until now, meeting fees have only been in use in a part of the decision-making bodies. Starting January 1, 2025, the University will expand the scope of its meeting fee practices to better reflect the important role students play – as well as the time and commitment it takes to participate in decision-making.
Starting from next year, the student members elected to all bodies defined in the University’s regulations will receive a meeting fee. These bodies include the faculty councils, boards of independent institutes, steering groups of bachelor's and master's programmes, steering groups of doctoral programmes, teaching skills committees, and the legal protection board.
The fee will be paid to the student for participation in meetings either as a regular student member or as a deputy member. The fees and amounts for members of the Board of the University are decided separately.
The amounts of the fees will also be increased: starting from next year, the meeting fee is 65 € per meeting for members of the University Collegium and 35 € per meeting for members of other bodies.
Fees are paid to the recipient collectively once per academic year. If you are both a student member and employed by the University, you are not entitled to the fee if the meeting takes place during your paid working hours.
More information on meeting fees is available on Flamma.
Want to be a student representative? The next bigger call for applications for student representatives will be opened next autumn, when positions are open for example in faculty councils – follow communications in the Studies Service and the Student Union HYY’s channels.
