Ireland combines vibrant city life in Dublin, Galway, Cork, and Maynooth with easy access to dramatic nature—Atlantic coastlines, cliffs, islands, and green countryside suited to hiking and weekend road trips. Overland travel on the island is straightforward by train and coach, and there are frequent flights and ferries to the UK and continental Europe. Student life is lively and community-oriented, with societies, sports clubs, traditional music sessions, and a welcoming pub and café culture. Costs are relatively high—especially housing in Dublin and Cork - but student discounts for transport, culture, and sports help manage expenses. Cities are compact and safe, public transport is improving, and cycling and walking are common for daily commutes.
