Return your old night access key – get a refund of EUR 25!

Did you find an old night access key at the bottom of your drawer? Now it’s time to return it and earn some money!

The night access key service of the IT Centre has been discontinued, and we are now collecting the old keys.

 Follow these instructions

• Return the old key: Return your access key by 31 October 2026 and you will receive the EUR 25 deposit fee you paid back to your account.
• Avoid congestion: Don't wait until the last day - return your key as soon as possible!

• If you still need access to the self-study facilities in the evenings and at night, get a new access control tag. Read the IT Helpdesk instructions for this. Take your student card with you when you pick up the new tag!

Reform of the night access key service

• Why? The University of Helsinki switched to a unified access control system to improve security and ease of use.
• When? The old service was discontinued in spring 2025.
