Student, welcome to the events organised by the doctoral school!

Welcome to the Doctoral Experience Week (DEW) 2026, which will be held in the last week of May. DEW will introduce you to the doctoral programs and research conducted at the University of Helsinki. Undergraduate students are warmly welcome to attend some of the events during the week. So come and get to know the doctoral programmes, take part in trivia quizzes, and get ready for the upcoming summer!

Trivia tournament

It's quiz time! By joining the Doctoral Experience Week 2026 quiz tournament, you will be able to compete against other walking encyclopedias and win awesome prizes! You can participate as a team of three -one bachelor’s, one master’s and one doctoral student - or as an individual competitor. The semi-finals will be held on Monday, 25 May from 15.30 to 17.00, and the finals will be held on Wednesday, 27 May from 15.30 to 16.30. The venue is Think Corner. Read more and register! 

Doctoral programme kick-off

Have you considered doctoral studies, but do not know what research is being conducted in doctoral programmes? Welcome to the kick-off event of the new doctoral programmes on Monday, 25 May at 13-15 at Think Corner. At the event, the directors of the doctoral programmes will present their own doctoral programme by giving a presentation on "My doctoral programme in three minutes". After the presentations, the participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the directors. No pre-registration! Further information.

Three minute thesis competition

More three-minute presentations will be held on Wednesday, 27 May, as the Think Corner stage will be conquered by the final of the 3 Minute Thesis competition! The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a fast-paced science communication competition where competitors are tasked with drawing up a popular presentation of their doctoral thesis. The presentations will be assessed by both the panel of assessors and the competition audience. The finalists represent the University’s four campuses: City Centre, Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki.
