New at the University? The Ask Me! -campaign helps you get started

Where in the Porthania building is the P417 lecture room? What about the nearest UniCafe? Where can I borrow books or find a quiet place to study? 

The entire University community is very much looking forward to the new academic year and new members of the community. To help you get off to the best possible start and lower the threshold for asking for help, we've organized an Ask Me! campaign, taking place from 31 August to 4 September 2026, to welcome new members of the University community.

During the campaign the pink Ask Me! logo guides those with questions in the right direction. You can spot the logo on university staff clothing and across the University's  information channels. If there’s anything you want to know, please don’t hesitate to ask! We welcome questions in English, Finnish and Swedish. 

The Ask Me! campaign is also present on the University's social media. The campaign will be introduced on the University of Helsinki's Instagram account @universityofhelsinki on Tuesday 25 August. On the coming Wednesdays experts on different topics will introduce themselves and answer students' questions as follows:  

• Wed 2 September Student Services
• Wed 9 September Helsinki University Library  
• Wed 16 September HYY - the Student Union
• Wed 23 September Student Wellbeing
• Wed 30 September UniSport - Sport Services

We will also answer students' questions on Tuesday 1 September from 12 pm to 2 pm on the Jodel channel @helsinginyliopisto.
