Medicine

Please see here a list of all courses and book examinations available for exchange students in the Degree Programme in Medicine (Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki) in the academic year 2024 - 2025. Please note that you can also take other courses from the university during your exchange studies, such as language courses.

In addition to these courses, medicine students from outside of the University of Helsinki can also complete clinical and/or research internships/electives/rotations in the University of Helsinki and/or Helsinki University Hospital (see the page How to apply for internship/thesis work/research for more). Please note that if you have been accepted as an exchange student, you need to complete your courses before starting an internship.

Please note that the Degree programme in Medicine requires three (3) years of prior studies in medicine, two years of pre-clinical and one year of clinical studies, before the exchange. Otherwise you will not be allowed to take part to the courses offered by the degree programme. Most courses offered for exchange students are from years 4 and above. Medicine is also highly restricted and access to courses is only for those accepted to the degree programme as exchange students.

Please note that if there are not enough students enrolled to the courses, they may not be realised. The minimum amount of students per course is 4. Please note that you will need to participate to all the courses offered during the semester.

On optional book exams: some courses can be taken either as 5 ECTS or 10 ECTS, depending on how much course literature the student wants to include. The students makes the decision on the scope of the course.

At the Faculty of Medicine, teaching is mainly arranged on campus. In general, it is not possible to participate remotely in teaching events arranged on campus.
