You should prepare for your return from Finland well before the end of your exchange studies. We have listed here a few things you should not forget.

Order a transcript of studies

The University of Helsinki does not automatically send your transcript of studies! You need to order the transcript once all your courses have been registered in Sisu.

User account validity

Your University of Helsinki user account is valid until end of January (if you are staying for the fall period) or end of September (if you are studying in the spring term/whole academic year). During this time you can access Sisu to make sure all your credits have been registered, to copy and download your course descriptions and course work from Sisu and Moodle. However, you can only register for exams / courses that take place during the validity of your study right.

Letter of Confirmation for Erasmus Students

Erasmus and Erasmus ICM students will automatically receive a Letter of Confirmation (also known as a confirmation of stay, end of stay or departure certificate) via email at the end of their exchange. This document is electronically signed by the University of Helsinki. The dates on the certificate are the ones stated as the duration of your exchange in Sisu. No action is required to receive it. 

Students Not Receiving an Automatic Letter of Confirmation

If your home university requires a departure document to be signed, please visit our drop-in receptions to receive signatures. We can sign the departure certificate a maximum of 5 days before your departure. If your home university specifies a different time frame, we must adhere to that. Document Templates

We do not provide templates for end-of-stay certificates except for the one automatically sent to Erasmus students. If your home university needs a specific template signed, they will provide it. If your university does not provide a form to sign, your transcript of records will suffice.

Learning Agreement

For Erasmus students, most Learning Agreements should be digital (OLA). Only print out your Learning Agreement if your home university is not yet using the digital version. If your home university is not using the Online Learning Agreement and your Learning Agreement still needs to be signed by us, please send it as a pdf file to studentexchange@helsinki.fi.
