Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students who reside in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Sipoo, Tuusula or Siuntio are, as a rule, entitled to student fares in public transportation within this area. Before receiving the student discount, you need to have a municipality of residence registered at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency
You can get your student discount by using the HSL app and connecting the student status to it. Please see the HSL instructions on how to download the app, connecting the student status to it and use it.
If you are not able to use the app, you will need to present a completed HSL discount ticket application furnished with the university’s stamp, at the HSL service point to receive the right to the discount. To get the stamp on the form, please visit one of the student service points.
Exchange students are also entitled to the HSL student discount if they meet the eligibility criteria set by HSL. As an exchange student you will need to present a completed HSL discount form for exchange students, furnished with the university’s stamp, to receive the discount. To get the stamp on the form, please visit one of the student service points. As an exchange student you don't need (and cannot have), a municipality of residence registered at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, to receive the right to HSL student discount.
