Call for applications: Apply for student exchange for the academic year 2026–2027

Girl on a train station
Bulletin 13.1.2026

Application period for student exchange begins on Monday, February 2nd 2026 and ends on Thursday, February 12th 2026 (at 3 PM)

Available exchange destinations:

  • For the academic year 2026–2027, autumn semester 2026 or spring semester 2027: main call for applications to Europe and Nordic countries
  • The supplementary call for applications for remaining exchange opportunities outside Europe: Asia, Australia, North America and Latin America. These destinations are open for spring 2027. Some of the destinations outside Europe concern the calendar year 2027.
  • Summer courses 2026. Put semester-long exchange destinations (in Europe or outside Europe) on one application form, but use the separate application form for summer school applications found on the linked page.
  • There will be updates to the list of available destinations until January 19th, with possible final updates until February 2nd. You must be logged in to your own degree program to see the exchange destinations available for your program.
  • Students from all faculties are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants are required to have completed at least 25 ECTS credits of university studies prior to the application deadline.
  • Most of the exchange placements are open for undergraduate or graduate students. There are also a few placements for PhD students.
  • Language skills in the host country’s language are required for some of the universities, but there are possibilities to study in English as well. See the Instructions for proving your language skills for more information.
  • Within Europe, exchanges are most often based on agreements signed on unit level, and the student is expected to study the field of the agreement. Students of the study program/major students of each agreement take precedence in the selection. Placements can also be offered with discretion to students of other fields. There are also many university-wide options (not tied to a study field). Read more on the Europe page.
  • Outside Europe there are university-level exchange agreements (these are open to students of all faculties) and unit-level agreements (these are only open to students of the unit/study program in question).
  • Host universities have prerequisites for students applying to exchange, for example Faculties of Law and Medicine do not accept applicants from other Faculties.
  • The last day to supplement your application is the 19th of February.

You can apply to a maximum number of 4 universities for a semester or for an academic year.

In the call for summer courses, you can apply to a maximum of three destinations - this does not affect the amount of exchange destinations you can apply to for a longer period.

If you are not chosen to one of your choices of exchange destinations, you can still be offered an available place left over at another university, without having to send a separate application. You must apply to at least 3 destinations to be eligible for this option.

The application is done in the Mobility Online system. Check the instructions of the application process and the required attachments here. The attachments must be uploaded to the Mobility Online system by the deadline.

The decisions of placements will be sent to applicants via email by the end of March. Note! If you are offered a place, you must accept it in Mobility Online within 7 days of receiving the offer.
