Bulletin 8.10.2026

Every autumn, Kela (Finnish Social Security Institution) sends requests for further information about study progress to students who receive financial aid from Kela, and whose studies have not progressed sufficiently during the previous academic year.

If you don’t receive financial aid from Kela, you don’t need to do anything. If you do receive financial aid, and have also received a request for further information about your study progress, make sure you reply to the request in time. If you don’t respond, your financial aid for students and housing supplement may be discontinued.

This autumn, Kela has sent requests for further information to approximately 18,700 higher education students. If you are among the recipients:

  • Check that all your completed credits have been entered in Sisu.
  • Reply to the request in OmaKela by 25 October, 2026

Don’t stress: it’s completely normal that sometimes studies progress more slowly for example because of illness or a challenging life situation. Many students receive a request for further information at some point during their studies. By replying on time, you can make sure that your financial aid is not interrupted simply because the requested information is missing.

Instructions on how to submit your reply and more information are available on Kela’s website (kela.fi):

If you notice that credits are missing from Sisu, please contact Student Advice.
