This monthly bulletin brings together the current events and services offered by Career Services. You can find all our services and instructions on the Work and Career page and the Traineeships page. Our services are available to you right from the beginning of your studies and up to one year after graduation.

UPCOMING EVENTS BY CAREER SERVICES

Join the Career Day (19.1.) recruitment event to meet employers and get job search support (fi, en)

19.1.2024 at 8.40–15.00, Zoom/JobTeaser

Are you looking for a job or traineeship for this year? Or do you need help finding a job or exploring career opportunities? Join the virtual HelsinkiUNI Career Day on Friday 19.1.2024!

In the morning, you will have the opportunity to learn about personal branding and LinkedIn, and how to navigate the Finnish job market. You can also get to know Career Services in a mini-session and learn about career opportunities at the European Chemicals Agency. In the afternoon, companies and organisations interested in hiring University of Helsinki students will pitch their career opportunities!

Some organisations also organise a separate Q&A session and for some you can book a one-to-one chat - so sign up for the employer events to ask more questions about jobs and recruitment! 

During the day, there will be a range of info sessions both in Finnish and English to support your job search. You can register for each session separately, just choose the ones you are interested in.

CAREER DAY PROGRAMME

The morning:

at 8.40–8.55 Get to know Career Services (register)

at 9.00–9.50 Personal Branding & LinkedIn, Learn How to Make Job Hunt Work for You! (register)

at 10.00–10.50 Navigating the Finnish Job market (register)

at 11.00–11.30 Career opportunities at the European Chemicals Agency(register)

The afternoon: Employer pitches and Q&A sessions

at 13.00–14.00 Employers' pitching session (register), in English. Nokia, Accountor, AlphaSense, Metsä Group, Natural Resources Institute Luke and VTT will pitch their own career opportunities. The session will be held in English (registration opens later). Also, the following companies pitch in Finnish at 12 - 13 but are also hiring international students: University of Helsinki, City of Vantaa, OP Financial Group, Nordea and Orion (international pharmaceutical company). In the Q&A sessions and one-to-one-meetings you can ask questions in English or in Finnish.

Are you wondering what your next step could be in terms of future or career planning? Would you like someone to listen to your thoughts or provide tips on where to find additional information to support your considerations? Come and meet a career counsellor on campus without an appointment!

Drop-In Support for Job Search (fi, en)

Are you wondering how to apply for a job or traineeship position? Do you need practical tips for job search or drafting your CV, job application, or LinkedIn profile, or would you like to get feedback on them? Welcome to our Drop-in support for job search on Zoom!

No registration needed, individual time slots 20 minutes each. The Zoom link and instructions for attending are available on the Career Services' Guidance and Counselling page.

JobTeaser's user interface will be renewed

The user interface will be renewed in the coming days. In particular, the Jobs module will be changed. A more detailed search for jobs and traineeships opens by clicking on "All filters". You can only see the positions of Finnish employers by ticking the "Targeted jobs" section. Your most recent Search is saved in the view. Change the language version to English by scrolling to the bottom of the page. We will update the instructions as soon as possible.

TIP OF THE MONTH

Contact Forum invites students and recent graduates to Messukeskus on January 25th (fi, en)

If you have space in your calendar after Career Day for another recruitment event, head to Contact Forum! Finland's oldest and largest recruitment and career event for university students and graduates, Contact Forum, will be held at Helsinki Messukeskus on Thursday, January 25th, from 10 am to 5 pm. The event is free for visitors and packed with programme to support your job hunting. Read more on the event page and register now!
