University criticizes government's proposed tightening of residence permit rules
In August, the University of Helsinki issued a statement to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment regarding proposed amendments to the Aliens Act. Under the proposed law, a foreign worker’s residence permit in Finland could be revoked after 3 or 6 months of unemployment.
The University of Helsinki opposes the suggested changes and expresses concern over Finland’s ability and willingness to attract international talent.
