The last opportunity to apply for JOO studies is during the spring semester 2025, application period is ongoing
The flexible JOO study right enables graduate students and doctoral researchers to apply for a study right to another Finnish university, for example to complete a module or take individual courses.
Majority of Finnish universities take part in JOO network, and the studies are free of charge for the student. The student must be registered as attending at the University of Helsinki to be able to apply for a flexible study right and take courses at another university.
The application period for JOO studies starting in autumn 2025 is 1.3. – 31.3.2025.

Universities have decided to terminate the flexible study right (JOO) agreement as of January 1, 2026. The last opportunity to apply for JOO studies is during the spring semester 2025: applications for undergraduate students will be open during March, and for doctoral researchers the application period is continuous until July 31, 2025.
The University of Helsinki is investing in cross-institutional studies as a form of national student mobility.
