By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

All first-cycle degrees at the University of Helsinki include a period of career studies (5 credits), which refers to a traineeship or a career-related project. All second-cycle degrees include career orientation and career planning. Practical training in Master's Programme in Microbiology and Microbial biotechnology (MMB)

Practical training and report (5 cr)

Course MMB-108 is optional and it's usually completed in Finnish.

It's also possible to complete elective Advanced project courses, where you'll work in a research group. Note also, that following courses do not meet the criteria for University's practical training subsidy:

MMB-107 Advanced bacteriology project in a research group, 10-12 cr

MMB-109 Advanced biotechnology project in a research group, 10 -12 cr

MMB-110 Advanced environmental microbiology project in a research group, 10 -12 cr

MMB-111 Advanced food microbiology project in a research group, 10-12 cr

MMB-112 Advanced mycology project in a research group, 10-12 cr

MMB-113 Advanced virology project in a research group, 10–12 cr

MMB-125 Advanced microbial bioinformatics project in a research group 10–12 cr

In addition to the practical training, it is possible to include work experience gained in your own field in the degree up to a maximum of 5 credits. Please contact Pauliina Lankinen if you would like to include work experience gained previously in your degree. The application is made through an application for custom course credit in Sisu.
