The structure of FOOD programme changes on 1.8.2026

Hi FOOD student! 

As you may have heard, the degree structure for the Master’s Programme in Food Sciences will be revised effective August 1, 2026. However, students who began their studies before August 1, 2026, may still complete their Master’s degree under the current 2023–2026 degree structure—that is, according to the current curriculum—until July 31, 2028 (a two-year transition period). Under the 2020–2023 curriculum, you can still graduate until July 31, 2026 (a three-year transition period), after which it will be necessary to switch to either the 2023–26 or 2026–30 structure. 

You can familiarize yourself with the new degree structure, for example, on the Degree Structure page of the Studies Service or by creating a new plan in Sisu for the new study plan period, where you can compare whether you want to switch to the new structure or stay in the current one. Please note, however, that you can only have one primary study plan for the same study right. You can find instructions on how to update the curriculum version of a plan or its components to a newer version in the Sisu instructions on the Studies service. 

With the new curriculum, changes will be made to the courses. On the Curriculum and equivalence between curricula page, you can see a summary of the discontinued and new study modules and courses, as well as the equivalencies for discontinued courses in the new curriculum. See also the instructions for selecting equivalencies in your study plan in the course brochure. 

Please also note that the FOOD programme’s info page on Moodle has moved. The new page can be found under the name Master’s Programme in Food Sciences (FOOD) info. The old page will no longer be updated.
