You can apply for funding for international exchange, which lasts up to one year from the International Exchange Services and Education Cooperation unit.
Your chances of receiving funding from the International Exchange Services and Education Cooperation unit depend on your employment status at the University of Helsinki. Tax authorities do not allow an institution to pay a salary and a scholarship to the same person for the same time period.
If you are working on your doctoral dissertation under an employment contract with the University of Helsinki, you can apply for
- teacher and researcher exchange (business trip of up to 2 weeks, for example, Erasmus+ teacher exchange)
- guidance about teacher and researcher exchange: staffexchange@helsinki.fi, on the page Teacher and researcher exchange contact information
If you are not employed by the University of Helsinki, you can apply for
- Erasmus+ traineeships abroad, duration 2-12 months
- short course scholarships, duration 1 week- 3 months
- Erasmus+ funding for doctoral researchers for short international stays of 5-30 days for (instructions will be published in 2023)
- student exchange of 2-12 months with a grant from the International Exchange Services and Education Cooperation unit. You can find more information via the links below:
- freemover scholarships, duration 2-12 months
- guidance: studentexchange@helsinki.fi, and on the page International exchange services and education cooperation
Most of the international visits of doctoral researchers take place with other funding mechanisms than funding from the International Exchange Services and Education Cooperation unit, i.e. for example, travel grants from the doctoral school or with funding from scholarship foundations.
