Nainen juna-asemalla
Bulletin 26.5.2025

The supplementary application period for European student exchange destinations begins on Monday 1st September and ends on Monday 15th September 2025 at 3pm Finnish time

Join us for the online info session Would you like to go on Exchange? on Tuesday 2nd September 3.15 – 5 pm. The link will be updated to our info sessions page closer to the event.

  • This application round is only for student exchanges in spring 2026 in Europe (not the UK).
  • Students from all faculties are welcome to apply.
  • European exchanges are mainly based on faculty and unit-level student exchange agreements of University of Helsinki. The exchange destinations are primarily meant for studying the field determined in each exchange agreement and students of the study program of each agreement take precedence in the selection. Placements can also be offered with discretion to students of other fields. More information can be found on our page on European exchange destinations.
  • There are also university-wide exchange destinations that are not restricted to a particular faculty or programme. However, there are some restrictions on these destinations, for example, students of certain fields cannot apply to certain universities. You can find more information on the page European exchange destinations.
  • Partner universities may have restrictions concerning the applicant’s possibilities of studying a field they have not studied before. For example faculties of Law and Medicine do not accept students from other fields.
  • Find more information on exchanges within the Nordic countries specifically on the European exchange destinations website.

 •    Information about available exchange destinations will be updated and available on our Europe page by the end of June. We will make a note on the page once the open destinations have been updated. Destinations not open for applications will be marked with a (*). Destinations in the UK are not open for applications during the supplementary round.

 •    Applicants are required to have completed at least 30 ECTS credits of university studies prior to the application deadline.

 •    Students cannot go on exchange during the first year of their Bachelor's degree.

 •    Language skills in the host country’s language are required for some of the universities, but there are possibilities to study in English as well. See the Instructions for proving your language skills for more information.

  • NB! There will be a maintenance break in Mobility Online on the 9th of September 10:00-12:00, during which the system cannot be used.

 •    The time to supplement your application ends on the same day as the application period, 15th September 2025. Due to timetable pressure with the selections, the application cannot be completed after the deadline.

You can apply to a maximum number of 4 universities for the spring semester 2026. You can apply to places offered by different exchange programmes.

You will only be offered only one exchange placement. Rank your preferences in your application. This will be taken into consideration when the decisions are made. If you are not chosen to one of your choices of exchange destinations, you can still be offered the possibility to be selected for an exchange with an offer for available places left over, without having to send a separate application.

The application is done in the Mobility Online system. Check the instructions of the application process and the required attachments here. The attachments must be uploaded to the Mobility Online system by the deadline.

The decisions of placements will be sent to applicants via email by 15th October

Please note that some universities' application deadlines are so early in the autumn, that we cannot guarantee that your application will be processed within the nomination/application deadlines. Therefore, please check the timetable of your host university regarding exchange application deadlines before applying through us and contact the International Exchange Services if the University of Helsinki needs to inform the host university (nominate students) before the end of September.
