This monthly bulletin brings together the current events and services offered by Career Services. You can find all our services and instructions on the Work and Career page and the Traineeships page. Our services are available to you right from the beginning of your studies and up to about one year after graduation. Make sure to also follow JobTeaser for all events and job and traineeship vacancies!

Career Counsellors’ Tuesday Workshops  

The UH career counsellors organize workshops on varying topics on Tuesdays. Both degree students and doctoral researchers are welcome to the workshops. Please see further information and sign up on JobTeaser!

Career Counsellors on Campus  

Are you wondering what could be your next step in your studies or working life? Would you like someone to listen to your thoughts or provide tips on where to find additional information to support your considerations? Come and meet a career counsellor on campus without an appointment!  

You are welcome to any campus. The meeting is limited to a maximum of 20 minutes. Please be prepared to wait for your turn.

Drop-In Support for Job Search (Fin, Eng) 

Are you seeking guidance on how to apply for a job or traineeship position? Do you need practical tips for job searching or drafting your CV, job application, or LinkedIn profile, or would you like to get feedback on them? Welcome to our Drop-in support for job search on Zoom!  

No registration needed, individual time slots 20 minutes each. The Zoom link and instructions for attending are available on the Career Services' Guidance and Counselling page.

Traineeship guidance and career counselling by appointment (Fin, Eng, Swe) 

At the traineeship guidance you can ask any questions you may have about your traineeship and talk about your situation together with a Career Services' traineeship specialist. 

Career counselling supports the development of self-awareness, exploration of career aspirations and opportunities, decision-making, and future planning. You can book an appointment with a university’s career counsellor whenever you have concerns – also at the very beginning of your studies. Please note that this is one of our most popular services, and appointments fill up quickly. 

New appointments for traineeship guidance and career counselling are opened on the booking page Vihta on the last Wednesday of each month around 10.30–11.00 am (see exceptions on the booking page). 

 

JobTeaser 

Internationally, the JobTeaser career portal offers you access to more than 26 000 job and traineeship offers. You can find job and traineeship offers submitted through the joint website of Finnish universities by filtering the view by selecting University of Helsinki job ads - Targeted jobs.  
 
Problem:  
I can't find job offers from Finnish employers on JobTeaser, check your settings!  

Have you registered in to JobTeaser, but you cannot find many job or traineeship positions in Finland? If this is the case, check these two things:  

1.) You have logged in specifically to the University of Helsinki's JobTeaser platform, not to the open JobTeaser platform. You log in to the University of Helsinki platform at: https://helsinki.jobteaser.com  

2.) The address is correct, but you still cannot find job offers from Finnish employers. Check that you have selected a field of study in your profile. This is a prerequisite for job offers submitted through the common portal (Aarresaari) of Finnish universities to be visible to students on the universities' own platforms. Update your profile if you have not made this selection.  Many students have not done this.  

Note! Many employers require Finnish language skills and ads are in Finnish. 

You can search for jobs submitted through Aarresaari where Finnish skills are not by selecting filters: 

• University of Helsinki, Targeted jobs and English as the language of the job advertisement
• University of Helsinki, Targeted jobs and tag "No Finnish needed" 

On JobTeaser career portal, you can find not only jobs and traineeships, but also career events organised by the Career Services, employers, and other organisations. Learn more about JobTeaser on the Instructions page and log in with your helsinki.fi credentials today!

Picking Up the Thread – Crafts and Conversations 

Are you looking for a relaxed activity and a chance to meet new people? Join us for a knitting session where you can knit or crochet in good company. You can bring your own project or use the materials we provide. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to knit or crochet – our counselling staff will help you get started. 

Date and place: Tuesday, March 25, at 16-18, Kaisa House Guidance Corner, Fabianinkatu 30. 

Registration is not mandatory, but we still recommend signing up in Lyyti to receive a reminder before the event.
