Compiling a study module | Open University

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

You can request the compilation of a study module when you have completed all the courses it includes, the courses have been entered into the University of Helsinki’s student information system, and you intend to, for example, apply to study at another university/higher education institution. However, it is not necessary to have a study module compiled.

Please note! If you plan to apply to the University of Helsinki through the open university routeSome degree programmes at the University of Helsinki do not require the compilation of a study module if you apply through the open university route. Check the admission criteria for the degree programme to see whether the compilation of a study module is required. You can find the admission criteria in the Studyinfo service.

How to request a compilation of a study module (if necessary)

  • Complete this electronic form: Compiling a study module
  • The processing time for a request to compile a study module is approximately four weeks.
  • You will receive a notification via email once the compilation is complete and the module has been entered into the University of Helsinki’s student information system.
  • If you are a degree student at the University of Helsinki, follow the instructions for degree students.

Please also note

  • A study module that has been compiled cannot be taken apart afterwards.
  • A study module cannot include studies completed more than 10 years ago.
  • You can raise the grade of a course included in a compiled study module. However, this will not affect the overall grade of the compiled module. This is to say that the grading for a study module will not be changed due to a raised course grade, and the incorporation of courses into a module cannot be cancelled.
