Compiling a study module | Open University

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

You can request the compilation of a study module when you have completed all the courses it includes, the courses have been entered into the University of Helsinki’s student information system, and you intend to, for example, apply to study at another university/higher education institution.

However, it is not necessary to have a study module compiled. The studies you have completed appear in the University of Helsinki’s student information system together with overall grades even if you do not have the module compiled.

How to request a compilation of a study module (if necessary)

  • Complete this electronic form: Compiling a study module
  • The processing time for a request to compile a study module is approximately four weeks.
  • You will receive a notification via email once the compilation is complete and the module has been entered into the University of Helsinki’s student information system.
  • If you are a degree student at the University of Helsinki, follow the instructions for degree students.

Please also note

  • A study module that has been compiled cannot be taken apart afterwards.
  • A study module cannot include studies completed more than 10 years ago.
  • You can raise the grade of a course included in a compiled study module. However, this will not affect the overall grade of the compiled module. This is to say that the grading for a study module will not be changed due to a raised course grade, and the incorporation of courses into a module cannot be cancelled.
