Open university student advice

In addition to HelsinkiUni Help, there are several other University services to support you in different situations – choosing the right service to contact will help you get quicker service:

• If your question concerns activating your University user account, please contact the university IT-Helpdesk. Check the instructions for activating your account first, and remember to activate your user account in good time before your studies start.
• If you have questions on the course content or the course’s Moodle area, please contact the teacher of the course. Contact information for the teacher, as well as a link to the course’s Moodle area, are available on your chosen course’s course page. You need an active University user account to log in to Moodle. The Moodle area will open at the latest when the course starts – please wait patiently and, if you wish, check out the Moodle user instructions in advance.
• If you need individual arrangements to support your studies, please check the instructions and contact the University's accessibility contact persons if needed.
• With any other questions on available courses, registration, and studying, you can contact HelsinkiUni Help. 

There are also several things you can handle online yourself. Check out for example these:

• Order a certificate of student status
• Order a transcript of records
• Request compilation of a study module

HelsinkiUni Help provides advice on all questions related to course offerings, registration, studying, and applying for open university studies.

In HelsinkiUni Help’s digital service, you can: 

• Search for content from the University web services using a search feature
• Chat with experts every weekday from 9:00 to 15:00.
• Submit a service request. Service requests are answered on weekdays. 

You can find the online ways to cantact HelsinkiUni Help in the top bar of the Studies Service and on the website of HelsinkiUni Help.

You can also ask us about open university studies by visiting the HelsinkiUni Help service point in the Kaisa House. Please check the service hours before your visit.

We serve you in order of arrival. You do not need to book an appointment. Please notice that if our service is very busy, we might not be able to serve all.

HelsinkiUni Help does not have a phone service.

Have an urgent question and HelsinkiUni Help is closed? Our customer service bot Hubot is ready to help you 24/7. 

You can find the chat icon on the right side of the page above the feedback icon. If you cannot see the chat, check that you have accepted functional cookies. 

Hubot offers advice in three languages: Finnish, Swedish, and English. The bot uses the language of the page you start the conversation on. If the bot cannot answer your question, you can use it to submit a contact request to HelsinkiUni Help’s customer service.
