Welcome to study at University of Helsinki!

If you have arrived in Finland from Ukraine due to war and you have been granted the right to complete non-degree studies at our University, you will find more information on this page.

Applying for non-degree studies

University of Helsinki grants the right to complete non-degree studies to persons who have arrived in Finland and whose degree studies have been suspended at the Ukrainian higher education institution due to war. The right of completion may be granted to courses or study modules. This does not give the right to complete a degree at the University of Helsinki.

Read more about the application process for non-degree studies in the Admissions and education section of the University of Helsinki website.

University of Helsinki doesn’t have a transfer application procedure from a university abroad which means that it is not possible to transfer a right to complete a degree to the University of Helsinki from a university abroad.

Activating your University of Helsinki user account

After being granted the right to complete non-degree studies and before starting your studies, you need to activate your user account. Activating the account online requires a Finnish e-banking account or an electronic user ID and a card reader. For detailed instructions for activating your account, please see Helpdesk's instructions.

If you don’t have a Finnish bank account, download an application for a user account from Helpdesk's website. Once the application has been processed, you will receive a notification to visit a Helpdesk ID-point in person. It is recommended to visit the Helpdesk ID-point of the campus where you have teaching. If you have teaching in different campuses, you can choose which one you want to visit for activating the account. It is enough if you activate your account at one of the Helpdesk ID-points.

Once you have received your user account, you can check your personal data in the student information system Sisu.
